BodyTalk Module 5 Training with Sylvia Muiznieks

BodyTalk Module 5 has several areas of focus:

  1. to provide the BodyTalk practitioner with information and practical skills for working in close physical proximity with clients;
  2. to provide the practitioner with a brief overview of the origins and insertions of some major muscles, to increase the effectiveness of Rehabilitation work.
  3. to provide a systematic approach for utilizing anatomical and physiological details from both western and oriental perspectives that will result in a new depth to the links that are created and,
  4. to add the Veltheim Method of Lymphatic Drainage as a tool under "Other Modalities."

Most of the Module 5 class consists of hands-on practical work, so the focus is on the application of the material that is presented. Course participants receive a comprehensive manual to take away with them, to serve as a handy reference.

Some of the practical skills presented in Module 5 revolve around preparing the client for physical techniques - particularly useful for BodyTalk practitioners who have no bodywork background. You learn how to warm up the client's tissues before doing any type of physical work on the muscles around the joints and how to drape clients when required to protect their modesty due to cultural belief systems and how. These skills will be useful in building confidence when working closely with clients during the application of BodyGenics, Rehabilitation and the Veltheim Method of Lymphatic Drainage techniques.

In order to facilitate the Rehabilitation work as learned in Module 4(7), it is helpful to have a 3-dimensional understanding of where the different muscles are attached around the various joints. This helps determine the best way to approach any restricted tissue. By knowing the direction of the fibers from origin to insertion, cross fiber friction techniques can be more accurately applied as you chase the pains and symptoms with each increase in range of motion of the joint you are working on. The practical work done during the class to physically feel the origins and insertions of a few select muscles on a partner and to mentally visualize these areas will facilitate an understanding that will save time during a treatment session.

A large section of the manual for Module 5 presents western anatomical and physiological information as well as oriental concepts in a way that facilitates finding the most accurate combination of details to build links that will be comprehensive, powerful and most profound. You will practice applying this material. This type of "more specific", "definitions" and "consciousness" work will enhance the quality of the links being made, whether they are simple links or complex (the advanced parcels/packages linking concept).

The whole last day of the training is devoted to the Veltheim Method of Lymphatic Drainage (VMLD). It is a novel but highly effective approach to lymphatic drainage that produces powerful physical and emotional shifts. It is based on a unique 'kinesthetic visualization' technique that defies the traditional western understanding of how the lymphatic system works.

VMLD is a highly effective way of moving fluids through tissues and into the lymphatic system. And since the lymphatic system is intimately associated with the immune system, the immune system's functioning is also improved with VMLD. Performing VMLD assists, on a physical level, in dealing with conditions such as acute swelling around an injury site and chronic edema, as well as removing harmful substances from an area (particularly molecules of emotion, as well as pain inducing chemicals and hormones that are stagnating in breast tissue or around various organs such as the ovaries or the prostate). It is amazing the types of dramatic changes that can be observed just by helping the lymph flow through an area (for example, lumps and cysts can disappear within days!)

For further information on Sylvia's approach to Module 5 - which includes the presentation of theory and application, demonstrations, and practice of the techniques under her supervision - please contact Sylvia at (403) 241-5613.

Module 5 is taught over a Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Early Bird Registration

Sylvia offers incentives of discounted training fees (if persons register and pay in full by the posted early bird deadlines) to encourage people to sign up early. Knowing the number of participants well ahead of time facilitates planning and decision-making (e.g., related to venue selection, the ordering of training materials, arranging for massage tables) - particularly important when Sylvia has to travel long distances to her training destinations. That's why she rewards people who commit early with a fee discount.

Sometimes classes are full by the early bird deadline, so even auditors/monitors may want to register early. In some cases where classroom space and/or student numbers are limiting factors, there may be a cut-off date after which auditors will no longer be accepted.

Also, for people who require accommodations during the trainings, it is a good idea to book at least a month ahead to ensure that a room is set aside for you.

Note: In exceptional circumstances, the early bird deadline may be extended for some trainings. Please enquire with the coordinator.
