The BodyTalk System™ - A New Paradigm for Health Care
You may have heard about BodyTalk already. Although it's only been in Canada since May 2000, its popularity has spread rapidly. And no wonder. It's simple, safe, non-invasive, and yields fast, effective results. It can tackle specific health problems or be used as a preventive health maintenance measure.
The system was developed in the mid 1990's by Dr. John Veltheim, a chiropractor, traditional acupuncturist, Reiki Master, and teacher with a deep understanding of western and eastern healing principles and philosophies. BodyTalk Practitioners currently practice in over 30 countries throughout the world. Graduates include medical doctors and specialists, psychologists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, physical therapists, osteopaths, nurses, massage therapists, and laypeople.
The outstanding growth and success of the BodyTalk system is essentially fueled by the following factors:
- Outstanding results with all types of conditions. The results are evident within all aspects of health - mind, body and spirit.
- It can be used alone or it can be seamlessly integrated with any other health care modality to enhance its effectiveness.
- It can be learned in a relatively short time.
- It is totally safe. There are no contraindications.
- No diagnosis is given, no medications prescribed and no invasive techniques are imposed upon the client.
The Principles Behind BodyTalk
The basic premises underlying the BodyTalk System constitute a new paradigm for synchronizing and balancing the bodymind.
BodyTalk is based upon the principle that our state of health is determined by the level of synchronicity of all energetic functions that constitute the bodymind. There are billions of synchronized activities that need to take place every second to keep the body in good health - at biochemical (physiological), emotional and mental levels. Environmental, hereditary and genetic influences at the cellular level also need to be taken into consideration. The body is a complex ecosystem involving a delicate balance between all of these interactions and everything needs to be synchronized into a cohesive whole. When any of these activities become unsynchronized, primarily through exposure to the physical and emotional stresses of day-to-day life and our environment, we begin to experience distress, disease and illness.
Until now, the majority of health care systems have tended to take a Cartesian approach and have focused on isolated parts of the bodymind equation. By understanding the parts, it is hoped that the whole will be understood. By treating the parts, it is hoped that the whole will heal itself. As many of us know, this approach does not work.
The BodyTalk System recognizes that within each of us there lies the innate knowing of who we are and what we need in order to function effectively.
BodyTalk has been designed to access and mobilize a person's innate healing ability by identifying where the imbalances in the bodymind complex are and re-establishing a communication between those affected parts. Once the links have been made and "tapped out," an energy shift occurs that leads to resynchronization, restoring balance in the bodymind and thereby restoring health as well. Since each individual is unique, the links required to balance each individual will also be unique - even in situations where the presenting symptoms are the same.
The client's innate wisdom guides the BodyTalk Practitioner to find the unique imbalances that exist in his/her body and the order in which the imbalances need to be addressed - that is, the innate wisdom sets the priorities. Therefore, no diagnosis is required.
BodyTalk Treatments
Communication with the innate wisdom is established using a version of neuromuscular biofeedback. Once the body's innate wisdom has been trained to provide "yes" and "no" responses, a systematic line of questioning or protocol is followed.
Treatment consists of touching the areas identified by the innate wisdom as requiring balancing and tapping out over the head and then the heart. The gentle tapping over both halves of the brain alerts the person's brain that there are corrections to be made (it's an ancient Hatha Yoga technique). Tapping the heart energy complex integrates the correction into the body's memory banks. The healing through BodyTalk, therefore, is at a deep and lasting level.
Once the communications systems of the body have been reestablished and the bodymind complex synchronized, the body is more capable of healing itself.
Of course, there are times when natural healing is not enough. In emergencies such as a car accident or a heart attack, where the body is in crisis, skilled medical interventions are required.
Nevertheless, BodyTalk Practitioners and their clients have witnessed the incredible healing power of a balanced body. Reestablishing the mind/body balance addresses physical, emotional and mental health disorders. The functions of every part of the body and mind are improved. The immune system starts to eliminate chronic and acute viruses, bacteria, parasites, and toxins. Resynchronization also improves allergies, musculoskeletal disorders, digestion and elimination, brain functions, learning disorders, and states of distorted consciousness in the form of negative belief systems and attitudes.
The BodyTalk Practitioner does not prescribe drugs or supplements or use invasive techniques or do anything that can cause harm to the body (a wet Q-tip in the navel is as close as it ever gets to being "invasive"!).
Why Not Try BodyTalk?
BodyTalk is safe and holistic in its approach to reestablishing the optimum health of the client. Why wouldn't everyone want to experience this system? Health care practitioners, who have a respect for the power of the human bodymind, would serve their clients well by learning more about the BodyTalk System.
